The 10th Plaza Dance Contest of Linyi Hedong District Held in Joy

The “Square Dance” has been a popular activity in China for years. With happy pace and beautiful movement, the lively dancing style is widely beloved. On November 5th, Linyi’s Hedong District kicked off the 10th Plaza Dance Contest.  The Tanghe Plaza in Tangtou Street became a hot venue for the more than 230 dancing participants in 14 teams. 

It was a warm sunny day in early winter. With superb dancing skills, the dancers joyfully expressed their love of life and blessed their motherland in enthusiasm. The audience was enchanted by the charm and style of the dancers, and by the atmosphere, too. Applause and cheers broke out from time to time.

The square dance contest enriches life of the residents in the district and promote the community culture. It is a platform to enhance friendship, too. Zhang Hongxu, a local, praised the event and said that it improves the life quality. Participant Cao Mingju introduced their dance “Spring Story”. “We have prepared long for this performance. Today, everyone performed beautifully, and we are very happy”, she said.

The Plaza Dance Contest was hosted by the district publicity bureau, the office for culture and tourism, the district women’s union, the district education and sports bureau, Rong Media Center, Linyi Tangtou Hot Spring Tourism Resort Management Committee, and Tangtou street administration. Hedong Cultural Institution and Tangquan District Tourism Development Department carried out the event, co-organized with the local street administrations for culture in the district. The competition ended with awarding one first prize, 2 second prizes, and 3 third prizes.
