Langya Old Town, Linyi’s New Landmark for Cultural Tourism

The 2024 Spring Festival just closed its curtain, but the atmosphere brought by Langya Old Town still around the corner. A new landmark integrating culture and tourism, Linyi’s Langya Old Town made a stunning debut. From the ceremonial opening on February 2 to the eighth day of the first lunar month (February17), Langya Old Town received a total of more than 210,000 tourists with 40% non-locals, generating a turnover of 31 million yuan.

Before the official opening of the Old Town, an online article called “I’m from Langya” drew the attention of thousands of readers within minutes. “Langya enjoys a rich history and culture for thousands of years. What we are presenting is a real-life picture that integrates culture with tourism”, said Jiang Yue, deputy general manager of Langya Old Town Project.

At present, Langya Old Town is the only scenic spot in the province with an immersive experience for tourism. The symbols of Langya culture and tradition are displayed with elements such as performing arts, technology, physical experience, and experiential education. The visitors are brought into Linyi’s three thousand years of culture by visual arts and dreamlike games.

Langya Old Town Project is an important part of the 2024 Shandong Tourism Development Conference, which received great attention and support. With the help of Linyi City to create an “Ancient and Modern Red, Green and Blue” system, the quality products of the local cultural tourism is being strongly promoted. For example, Hedong District has been implementing a so-called “one-stop all-round service” to better the tourism business environment. Shandong Caijin, an investment group, is cooperating with Linyi Caijin, Oriental Garden, and Lehua Tourism Group to jointly support the project of Langya Old Town. The model of “state-owned system + flexible market mechanism” is becoming increasingly successful for the tourism industry in Shandong Province.
